Below or above the water line, LUX* Maldives offers a kaleidoscope of nature and colour that always delights the senses. LUX* Maldives is the only resort on Dhidhoofinolhu island within the southern Ari Atoll and is a true example of pristine island existence. Unspoiled white beaches face the clear aquamarine lagoon, while the lagoon itself is perfect for spotting whale sharks and snorkelling.
There is an abundance of barracuda, tuna, manta and sting rays, butterfly fish and parrotfish. Green turtles, dolphins, hawksbills and whale sharks can also be seen. A spa and two pools offer welcome breaks from the gorgeous beaches, while secret pathways can be discovered through the tropical gardens. Impromptu beach cinema screenings can also be enjoyed. The resort is a mere 25 minute’s seaplane ride away from the international airport at Male.
Accommodations at the LUX* Maldives comprise rooms that are spacious, breezy and light with bright island colours. Each room offers a sophisticated aura of simplicity and offers sweeping views of the beach and radiant lagoon. The Beach Pavilion room has a private garden and outdoor shower as well as a lofty thatched roof with sunlight filtering through. Palm trees and other sprawling trees shade the Sunset Junior Suites that face the sunset with breathtaking views of the ocean. Oranges and reds and warm wood accent the minimalist design. The Water Villas are perched on stilts above the water with direct beach access and views of the ocean. The Prestige Water Villa sits over the water on stilts and has a private terrace. The soothing décor is in shades of light sand and blue tones of the ocean.
The Family Water Villa also perches above the water on stilts. The Beach Villa reflects the island in tones of ochre and light sand. Gorgeous banana trees, bright hibiscus and open sky provide a natural setting and privacy in the en suite outside bathroom. The Beach Pool Villa offers light sand tones and accents of natural wood as well as a wooden deck and sunken swimming-pool in the secluded garden. The LUX* Villa features unparalleled views of the island surroundings and the lagoon. The lagoon merges with the infinity plunge pool while colourful sea life can be seen through the living room glass floor. A 24 Hour personal butler can cater to the needs of the guest as well.
Guests are spoilt for choice with the numerous dining options at LUX* Maldives. Senses restaurant is inspired by Indian Ocean, Indian, Lebanese and North African cuisine. Suspended over the water, East Restaurant and Bar offers Chinese, Hong Kong, Sri Lankan, Thai, Indonesian and Cambodian-style buffets. The Allegria Restaurant and Bar sits right on the beach and offers Italian fare. Private dinners can be enjoyed in their wine cellar. Umami perches on stilts above the water and features a Japanese styled teppanyaki table. Bars include the Lagoon Bar, Island Bar and East Bar.
